The Ghosts of Stur

Come and join us for an evening stroll around Sturminster Newton and learn about the ghosts of the past. Our walk starts at The Swan Inn where we will hear about one of our most recent apparitions. From here we’ll head across the town bridge and climb to the site of an ancient hill fort with views of “The Castle”, and learn of a mysterious creature, before descending into the Newton part of town where spooky goings-on (or perhaps man assisted folklore) offer up two more tales. We’ll head back into Sturminster, finishing at The White Hart, where we learn of a lady who still likes to make her presence felt. This will be an enjoyable, relaxed stroll, although there are some areas where a level of physical fitness is required, including a steep set of steps to conquer. We cannot avoid crossing main roads, so we will need to be careful – there is no rush, safety above speed – and there will be some walking in fields and on dirt paths. Please remember that you may be on your feet for a couple of hours. In total, we’ll cover about two miles.
