
Sturminster Newton Literary Festival focuses on celebrating three writers associated with the town (Thomas Hardy, William Barnes, and Robert Young), current Dorset and Wessex writers, and aspiring writers of the future. The festival has a range of talks, workshops, guided walks, and collaborative events with local businesses to promote writing from the region.

March 2025: Looking forward to SturLitFest 2025
The 2025 Sturminster Newton Literary Festival Programme will launch online on 17th March. The festival runs from 6th-15th June with a varied programme. Tickets will open to Friends first before the wider public. To become a friend, click here for more details.
March 2025: SturLitFest launches its Poetry and Short Story Competition
SturLitFest has launched a Poetry and Short Story competition for all ages from 5 to adult. Open to entries from 6 March until 6 May, winners will be announced on 6 June. Instructions and entry forms can be downloaded here.
