In 2009, the Gryphon School in Sherborne filmed an adaptation of Far From The Madding Crowd in Dorset. The film received a Leicester Square premiere and international media coverage and was naturally popular with Dorset residents. 150 years after Thomas Hardy wrote this famous novel, we’re showing the film during the Sturminster Newton Literary Festival week, followed by an opportunity to meet some of the actors with a question and answer session.
Where are the actors now? At least one has a professional acting career, and others are still involved in drama productions. What was it like to film a budget movie or walk on the red carpet in Leicester Square? Can you recognise the locations, which include farms in Pulham, Stock Gaylard, Lulworth Cove, and Sturminster Newton Mill? Come and join us for a unique and very special evening.
